Record number head for the Counties!

The number of races Cheltenham swimmers heading to the County finals next year have entered has more than doubled in three years – an amazing achievement in such a short space of time.

In 2017, 62 competitors qualified and swam in a total of 354 races. This year, that went up to 71 swimmers and 462 entries. But heading in to 2019 we have an incredible 97 swimmers entering 801 races – which will make us one of the largest clubs at the event.

This amazing result couldn’t have happened without our coaches, Kev and Steve and Josh – who deserve a huge thanks from us all. This is what they had to say about this achievement:

“Congratulations to all our swimmers who have qualified for the 2019 Gloucester County Championships, with a special mention to those from the Academy who have just begun their competitive swimming journey.

“We are showing positive signs of progress within all our squads as swimmers take the program on board and continue to develop both consistency in their training and a growth mindset towards improvement. This is a great achievement and another big step forward for the whole of the swim section, well done!”

Good luck to everyone and let’s see if we can beat this figure next year!
