Cheltenham have successful start to the Arena League season, winning the first round clear by 34 points.
So, the competitive season began on Saturday night as CSWPC travelled to Daventry for the first round of the Arena League competition. To put it into context, this is only our third year in the competition, we were promoted at the end of our first year and now compete in Division 2. Team morale was high on the coach and the diet of champions was obvious by the number of packets of Haribo being passed around.
Team talk over and team pictures taken in our new TYR kit, we arranged ourselves poolside; spectators, swimmers and officials alike. For many of our swimmers this is the first time that they have competed at this level (no speeding tickets to be won here!)
Kicking off with our senior swimmers we banked a 1st and 2nd in the 200m IM. Following this we were straight into some really strong medley and freestyle relays from all age groups. Team spirit was clear as the swimmers were determined, take overs were neat and they swam every stroke to the line. Throughout the evening all age groups performed brilliantly and rose to the occasion.
And we finished the evening in first place.
Final scores :
Cheltenham 219
Daventry 185
Dunstable 181
Flitwick Dolphins 169
Lichfield 153
Bicester Blue Fins 141
Were they tired on the way home? No, they were in fine voice!
Let’s go Cheltenham, let’s go!
