Another successful long distance meet

Swimmers meeting for the second of two long distance events in Cheltenham over the past couple of weeks were probably grateful they were inside on Sunday morning with the weather turning distinctly autumnal outside.

Nine boys swam the 1500m and 27 girls took on the 800m in a series of hotly contested heats. According to one unnamed official there was more than one head-to-head tussle for first place in the girls races. The boys might have been fewer in number but they still produced some excellent swimming. In the end despite a few hiccups in the pool there were some great times to take forward to future open meets – giving everyone who took part a solid base to work on.

Thanks as always to coaches and parent officials and other volunteers – please do get involved with the team (even if it’s just to be there to cheer), your children depend on you as the club can’t run without your help.
